Blog Giveway: Celebrating 100,000 Visitors!

For CY who always wants to show my food off.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

There is a keen satisfaction from knowing that your work is read and appreciated. I've been lucky to have had great friends and family to keep me encouraged; they spread the word of my blog, tell people to read my blog, cook from my blog and then give credit to my blog. I even have people asking me to try making things that I've never tried before, all in the name of improving my blog. I'm extremely lucky to have such a wonderful support network and to have so many people promote me.

I have a simple story to demonstrate this. My good friend CY decided that she was going to cook for her church small group. She asked me what one of my more economical favorite recipes was, and asked if I would help her prepare it. She said, "If it is a hit, you know that people will be talking a LOT about it." I laughed at her confidence and offered to help her, simply because I wanted her small group to eat a nice meal. (feeding people is the greatest motivation for me...fame is not.) We worked hard together, prepared all the components of Kimchee Burgers and she went and executed them for her small group. She said she was AMAZED at how much food impacted the mood of the evening. People were excited, jubilant, eating voraciously and just enjoying themselves. There wasn't anything left at the end of the night and people continued raving about it at church the following Sunday. It was great publicity for me as CY continued to say, "It's all on the Week of Menus website" and she just kept on promoting me. But more of my personal satisfaction came from the fact that people ENJOYED my food, got excited about what they ate and were satisfied. That is my thanks.

To thank my readers and my friends, I'm celebrating my latest milestone - 100,000 hits (WOW!), a number I'd never imagine I would reach. I'm buying the contest winner a beautiful set of MIU measuring spoons. These are not the measuring spoons I currently have, but these are the NEXT set I'd like to own - because the shape is narrow (my spoons keep getting caught in the narrow spice jars), they are stainless steel with beautiful long handles and a great hefty weight. They will be essential during this coming holiday season.

I hope that the winner uses the spoons in good health to cook and prepare wonderful foods for family and friends. I continue to ask people to try and cook for the loved ones around you, because food can change people.

To enter, simply enter a comment below which includes the following two things:
1. What have you cooked most often from this blog?
2. Why do you cook it so often? (FYI - if the answer is - I've only cooked one thing and that's it, your answer has as much equal merit as the person who has cooked many things. No worries.)

I am stickler for following directions, probably due to my former career as a high school teacher. If you fail to answer one of these two questions, your entry will be disqualified.

A single winner will be chosen at random one week from today. ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. (But each spouse can enter once.) Please make sure you leave at least an email so that I can contact you and get your mailing address so that you can receive your prize. (US addresses only please.)

1. What have you cooked most often from this blog? Your pumpkin muffins.
2. Why do you cook it so often? (FYI - if the answer is - I've only cooked one thing and that's it, your answer has as much equal merit as the person who has cooked many things. No worries.) Because it's the season (fall) for pumpkin desserts and muffins are what I usually make for our church service. I make a lot of your baked goods for the congregation. They love the pumpkin-chocolate chip coffee cake best.

I've cooked ginger soy chicken the most from the blog...once a week. It's easy to make the marinade and the kids all love it. I'm not known for my cooking abilities but the first time I made it, I got 3 thumbs up from each of my kids. Husband did a double take and asked if I actually made it...

1. What have you cooked most often from this blog?
Braised Tofu

2. Why do you cook it so often?
Because I LOVE Tofu and have been looking for new ways to cook it other then Chinese or Japanese style while still being Asian. I cook it on average maybe once a month? Which is a lot as I don't cook that much anymore since I started working fulltime.

Definitely the Greek Roasted Chicken with Honey Lemon Drizzle - it's amazing!

I make it frequently because I adore the taste of that crispy skin against the juicy, honey-glazed meat, and the presentation is just terrific. I can make it quickly and it travels well too.

And congrats on hitting a big milestone!

I accidentally stumbled across your blog about a month ago. We are currently stationed in Korea and my family and I LOVE bulgogi. We wanted to learn more about Korean cooking so one Google search later and I found your very simple instructions for cooking bulgogi.

We've made it twice now and our girls (5 & 3) requested it for dinner tonight. Simple and delicious! And I love the back stories you put with the recipes!

I've made your roasted garlic with broccoli. I make it because the garlic adds amazing flavor to the broccoli, which is the incentive I need to eat my vegetables!

I often make your banana muffins and add chocolate chips. I make it often because my 3 yr old daughter enjoys preparing the mixture with me and we both love how moist it is. By the way, your old friend HYK introduced your blog to me a year ago and I have to say your recipes have been a lifesaver! Thank you!

1. I have cooked a LOT of things from your website. I think your website is my go-to website for ideas and directions on how to make delicious food for my daughter. For my daughter, the most frequent thing I've made for her is the braised tofu.

2. I make it often because the girl loves tofu and she loves the sauce.

I also make the jangjorim often as well as korean tacos. I really enjoy making food from your website. Congrats on the milestone and I look forward to reading more recipes from you!

1) I am relatively new to your blog so I've only made the pumpkin coffee cake, which was fabulous! 2) I've only made it once so I guess that's not very often! ;)

I've cooked your sesame noodles with cilantro and scallions the most. It's easy to make and so delicious to share!

A friend of mine, HYK, told me about your site, and this past week while my kids were sick with the flu, I cooked 8 of your recipes for them! Gomtang, garlic noodles, asian ribs, kongnamul bap, kimchee bibimbap, garlic green beans, soy braised chicken and agrodolce salmon. Our whole family loved it all. You've inspired me to cook. Thank you!

Hi,
Just stumbled across your website. I was looking for a recipe that used pureed carrots and so I tried the carrot cupcakes. They were so yummy that the family requests them all the time. Very cool giveaway! I have the same problem with my measuring spoons. You have many recipes that I will be trying. Wonderful blog.

Hi Joanne,

I think I make donuffins the most (well, at least in the last few months). Not only is it a relatively guilt-free treat, but my coworkers, family and boyfriend love I bring make them. Nothing beats cinnamon and sugar. :)

congrats on the 100,000 hits. very impressive. now to answer your question.
1. it probably has to be your garlic-paparika chicken (just made it tonight) or the ground turkey with lettuce wrap.
2. they're both so easy and so delicious! i love that they both require such few ingredients.
