200,000 Hits Blog Giveaway!: My dream of a kitchen

This is a picture of my kitchen...or at least a part of it.  It's the more important part of it, as it is where I actually cook and provide food for my family.  I use my kitchen at least three times a day and it is the central focal point of my family time, as I'm generally in here (if I'm not on my computer blogging about something that went on in my kitchen.).

Although this is probably the most used room in my house, it is nowhere near my dream of my kitchen.  I have lots of ideas in my head of what I'd like, what brands of appliances I'd like to put in there, and the arrangement of where I'd like to put all my utensils and plates.  Since marriage, I have never cooked in my dream kitchen. My Hong Kong kitchen was a tiny steel trap, my Korean kitchen was lacking a decent floorplan and no dishwasher, and now this kitchen in the Bay Area is old, run down and the cabinets never stay shut.  To rub salt into my kitchen dream wounds, two of my close friends are getting the opportunity to redo their kitchens and hopefully come closer to each of their dreams.  Sigh.

But then the folks at CSN stores contacted me letting me know that they'd like to help me get one step closer to my dream...they offered me $60 to spend on whatever I wanted as long as I reviewed it on my blog.  I instead asked if I might perhaps offer my readers a chance at getting closer to THEIR dream kitchen, and they agreed.

CSN has over 200 stores, including one for track lighting which would go a long way in improving my kitchen. You're welcome to browse all 200 of their stores (on the left hand side of said screen) and check out all they have to offer.  The winner of this contest (and there will be only one winner) will receive a $60 gift certificate to spend anywhere on the CSN stores website.  They have baby items, kitchen items and electrics and a host of other things.  Unfortunately the restriction is that CSN only delivers to the US and Canada, so readers from abroad of my blog, you will not be able to qualify.  You could enter and give it to someone you know in the US perhaps.

Blog Giveaway Details celebrating 200,000 HITS!

To enter to win a $60 gift certificate from CSN stores... you MUST do the following:
1. Go to CSN's website and browse their items.

2. Leave a comment below telling me what you'd like to buy with your $60.  (Don't worry, I won't actually hold you to it if you win, but I'd eventually like to know what you bought with your windfall.)  Please make sure you provide a way for me to contact you. (If you're someone I know, I'll figure it out.)

For an extra entry (Each person only qualifies for one) - THIS IS A SEPARATE COMMENT FROM THE ONE ABOVE!

A. You can have an additional entry if you become a Facebook Fan of Week of Menus.  Click on the link, become a fan, and leave me a comment below saying that you're now a fan!

B. If you are already a fan, you can enter again by telling me what you're going to cook next from my blog.  Leave me a comment below. (To keep things fair, new fans may not do this.)

A winner will be chosen at random a week from today.
(I am a former high school English Teacher, so I am bit of a stickler for rules.  Entries which do not follow the instructions will be disqualified.)

Best of luck and hope to see you soon!

Congrats on 200,000 hits!

I'm a first-year college student, so I'm still a looong way from my dream kitchen. I'd like to start collecting some basics, though, so I can make use of my tiny dorm kitchen as much as possible. I would probably get:

A frying pan/skillet: Farberware Superior Nonstick 8" Deep Skillet, $11.99
Baking sheet: Silverstone 11" by 17" Cookie Sheet, $9.99
Mixing Bowl: Progressive International Collapsible Bowl, $9.99
Decent knives: Ginsu Bakelite 5 Piece Prep Cutlery Set, $19.99
Measuring implements: Paula Deen 5 Piece Melamine Measuring Spoon Set, $4.95, and Paula Deen 5 Piece Dry Melamine Measuring Cup Set, $5.95

That would put me a bit over the $60 (especially with tax), but it's enough to start with, and I could make up the difference.

I'm already a FB fan. I'd like to try your Paprika Roasted Chicken because 1) your heading states it's SO EASY and 2) HYK once told me it's such a delicious dish. Thanks for selflessly providing wonderful meals for all of us to enjoy!

Peri said...

what am I going to try and cook next... I'm thinking about the garlic scallion noodles with the soy ginger chicken, possibly for my own Mother's Day dinner. I may even spurge on the hot artichoke dip since holiday calories don't count.

That may be too many flavors for one meal... I'll have to consider that.

Peri said...

What would I spend the $60 on? I would probably use it to get a few speciality microplane graters. I've wanted them for a while. I would also consider a roasting pan or crepe pan.

I have to admit that I went to the education/school supply area and "backed away" when I decided I should get something for myself, not for school. Maybe I could update some baking pans for home and bring the older pieces to school.

Karen Jae Kim said...

I am going to try the greek chicken!

Karen Jae Kim said...

I would buy the pyrex set. I know totally boring but I have so many knick knack of storage stuff that I would like to get some glass containers especially when I am storing food for the little one.
Pyrex Storage Plus 18 Piece Set
or
Delonghi Cool-touch 2.2 lb. Deep Fryer
(I've been begging for my husband to buy me this for awhile. =) Not that we need anymore fried foods in our lives...

I would use $60 to buy a dutch oven. Several recipes call for using one and I don't have one, so I'd love to buy one to try it out. Especially because I'm in the kitchen 3 times a day like you are cooking for my family of 3 with one on the way!
